Rhymes Through Times was created by Lasette Canady with music by Christopher Jackson (Hamilton/ Moana) and animation by Lion Forge (Academy award-winning short, Hair Love).
“Hamilton for preschoolers” was my vision behind this animated series, and Rhymes Through Times was born. It was my Black History Month brainchild. I pitched it to the Nick Jr. YouTube team, and it eventually became one of the most celebrated award-winning short-form series made by the Nick Jr. and Noggin team. The series teaches kids about Black historical figures you’d rarely find in textbooks. It highlights the Black experience and draws kids in with amazing music and of course, the actors in this animated musical are their favorite Nick Jr. characters.
